United States Appoints New Ambassador to Liberia

Washington D.C.– President Donald Trump has nominated Mr. Michael McCarthy as Ambassador to Liberia pending senate confirmation. McCarthy is a Career diplomat with extensive foreign services to Germany, India, and many others.
His confirmation will close the void left behind by Christine Elder who resigned her post on March 21st, 2020, to unconfirmed reasons.
Up till his appointment, Ambassador McCarthy was U.S. Consul General to the Republic of South Africa near Johannesburg. Additionally, McCarthy also served in South Sudan, with knowledge of Sub Saharan Politics.
